My Focus for July is Focus!

Happy July! Today is the start of Q3 for many. I find the start of a quarter to be a great time to revisit goals and intentions.

Last month I was focusing on being more intentional. This month I’m thinking about light and focus mainly because I’ve had a surprising number of conversations where someone mentions light in the past few weeks.

Several clients have discussed not wanting to be in the spotlight. Another coach recently sent an email challenging several of us to think about ourselves as a lighthouses, shining light on others. And I’ve also been reading Lyssa deHart’s, Light Up: The Science of Coaching with Metaphors (Mar 2024) - more on this in a future post.

I am usually not a big fan of inspirational quotes but… the following has been resonating.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us…”― Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of "A Course in Miracles"

And so with all of these thoughts and images, I plan to spend July reflecting on where I am focusing my light.

Where is your focus?

  • Are you facing opportunities or challenges?

  • Are you assuming positive intentions?

  • Are you approaching your daily tasks with levity?

  • Are you looking for bright spots in your day?

Where would you like your focus to be?
